Research Summary

Zhen.He@medicine.ufl.edu

I am interested in the relationship between intestinal inflammation and colorectal cancer, especially the microbiome and its role in promoting or protecting against carcinogenesis. My MD study was on the mechanisms of the mTOR signaling pathway and the STAT3 signaling pathway, and their effect on intestinal inflammation-induced colorectal cancer.

I joined Dr. Christian Jobin’s lab in 2016 to study how the microbiome promotes or protects against the development of intestinal inflammation -induced colorectal cancer. My research is focused on the CDT-producing bacteria Campylobacter jejuni and the induction of colorectal cancer.
